Moonlight Hike

Panther Creek State Park 2010 Panther Creek Rd., Morristown, TN

Join Ranger Mayfield for a nice walk through the forest using our headlamps to navigate. We will be hiking Trout Lily Trail, a two-mile moderately difficult loop. Winter hikes are quiet and peaceful with wildlife to enjoy. The cost for this program is $5 per person and each person must pre-register for this event online using the link below. Each participant must bring a headlamp or flashlight. Please remember to dress appropriately for the weather and bring water with you.

Christmas Planetery Observation

Panther Creek State Park 2010 Panther Creek Rd., Morristown, TN

Join Ranger Cade for a Christmas planetary observation session. Cookies, hot cider, and hot chocolate will be provided. Please bring a camping chair while you wait and enjoy the refreshments. Please dress for the weather. If you choose to bring your own light, please bring one with a red light setting and only use that setting for the best viewing experience. We will be targeting Jupiter, Mars, and possibly Saturn and some DSOs. We will be viewing with up to over 180x power through a 10" Dobsonian telescope. If the sky is cloudy, the program may be rescheduled for a better date. Please check your email for updates. If the program is rescheduled, you can keep your spot or receive a refund. The park will be closed to regular visitors at this time, if you are not signed up for the program or camping then you will not be permitted on park grounds. The meeting location is the playground parking lot (look for the Ranger truck).

First Day Hike

Tomahawk Toss

Join Ranger Cade to enjoy one of America’s favorite pioneer pastimes. We will discuss a little bit about the history of the tomahawk, both as a tool and as a weapon. We will also practice the art of throwing with a high-quality tomahawk! This program is good for ages 11+. The cost is $5.00 per person. Register via the link. The meeting location is The Group Camp. The group campground is located on Cameron Rd at the bottom of the hill. Look for the ranger truck.

Build Your Own Hiking Stick

Come on out to Panther Creek State Park and join Ranger Mayfield as we construct our very own hiking sticks. We will be using files, rasps, sandpaper, and hammers to construct our very own hiking stick with a Panther Creek Medallion nailed onto the handle! All materials needed for this program will be $15.00 per person. Everyone must pre-register for this event via the link below. Please remember to dress appropriately for the weather.

Spring Hike

Panther Creek State Park 2010 Panther Creek Rd., Morristown, TN

The Trout Lily trail is a moderate 2-mile loop that will take us along the lakeside and includes a healthy incline. We will have the opportunity to see various interesting plants and scenic views. Please bring closed-toed shoes and personal water and dress for the weather. This hike will be rain or shine, barring hazardous conditions. Keep in mind, there are no restrooms at the boat ramp area.
