Panther Creek State Park Brings Out the Best in Outdoors

Nestled between Morristown, Tennessee, and the Cherokee Reservoir, Panther Creek State Park is the perfect gateway to the outdoors. No matter if you’re an avid fisherman, casual stroller, or dedicated biker, there’s something for everyone at Panther Creek.

Tennessee-based company Dirty Bird Events hosts several endurance events at Panther Creek throughout the year. Mountain bikers flock to the annual Wildcat Mountain Bike Race which offers 4- and 8-hour races for solo runs and teams. The Motus Triathlon features one of the toughest and most rugged triathlons on the circuit. Participants tackle a variety of terrain that will test them to their limits. Runners looking to take things to the max will love The Dirt Circuit endurance trail run. With 12- and 24-hour competitions, Panther Creek offers a gorgeous backdrop and spectator-friendly course to keep runners going strong. Meanwhile, distance runners can sign-up for the half-marathon and 4.2-mile race with the Motus Run.

Panther Creek is home to 17 different hiking trails totaling over 30 miles of adventure. Terrain is varied and encompasses all skill levels with the highest elevation reaching 1,460 feet above sea level. For those who like to float, there’s easy access to the water at the Panther Boat Ramp. In addition, disc golfers will find an awesome time at the 18-hole championship course filled with open fairways, wooded terrain, and concrete tees. Horseback riders are welcome to two different trails totaling seven miles of riding. 30,000 acres of Cherokee Lake and the nearby Holston river are the perfect retreat for anglers of all kinds. Take your boat out on the water or fish from the vast and sprawling shoreline.

All the activities Panther Creek offers will wear a body out. No worries though! The state park offers 50 campsites for visitors to kick back, relax, and spend the night in the great outdoors. With bathhouses, a laundromat, dump station, and Wi-Fi, you can make Panther Creek your home away from home for up to two weeks. Plus, if you’d like to host an event on-site, Panther Creek has a number of venues available for rent from large, open green fields to recreational fields.
