Who’s Hungry?

Are you one of those people who likes to “eat where the locals eat” when you’re traveling?  If the answer is yes, Morristown has some great local establishments to temp your taste buds. Here are some favorites of the Morristown Chamber staff.

Long known as the most important meal of the day, breakfast in Morristown has you covered. A long-time favorite, Hillbilly’s Cabin Restaurant is open seven days a week with their massive breakfast menu available from 7 AM to their 2:30 PM closing time. You’ll find all kinds of stick-to-your-ribs fare on the lunch/dinner menu including handmade burgers, country style steak with gravy, fried chicken livers, and more. The traditionally Appalachian pinto beans and corn bread are a particular favorite of our CEO, Marshall. Located at 308 McCrary Lane, Hillbilly’s Cabin is open until 8:30 PM on Thursday and Friday.

Serving Morristown for over 80 years, The Little Dutch Restaurant 115 S. Cumberland Ave in the heart of downtown is the go-to place for an excellent lunch, dinner, or a special celebration. House specialties include teriyaki chicken, beef tenderloin tips sautéed in wine with fresh mushrooms, a massive soup and salad bar, and the Friday night prime rib special. Chamber General Manager, Debra highly recommends the Dutch Potato Skins – they’re not your everyday skins, while Director of Business Development, Jodi is a fan of the out-of-this-world onion rings. While you’re there, be sure to check out the wall of famous folks who’ve visited, including Disney legend Mary Costa (the voice of Sleeping Beauty) and well-known actors Calista Flockhart, Harrison Ford, and Lily Tomlin.  You’ll find The Little Dutch at 115 S. Cumberland St. Their hours are Monday-Thursday 11 AM – 7:30 PM; Friday and Saturday 11 AM – 8:30 PM.

Staying in the downtown area, you’ll find several of Morristown’s newest eateries. Central Market Breakfast Bakery and Between the Bricks Sandwich Co. are owned by a local inventive restauranteur and both establishments offer fresh, made-to-order fare.  Central Market serves not only scrumptious breakfast until their closing time of 2 PM, but made-to-order sandwiches, salads, and wraps. The extensive breakfast menu includes The Elvis (peanut butter, banana, and bacon cinnamon French toast) along with traditional biscuits and gravy, breakfast sandwiches, power bowls, pancakes, waffles, and omelets. Located at 138 W. Main St., Central Market is open Monday-Friday 8 AM-2 PM, lunch is served from 11 AM to closing. Next door at 142 W. Main St., Between the Bricks offers hand-crafted sandwiches and scrumptious salads and soups. With multiple varieties of artisan breads, locally sourced meats, veggies and desserts, you’re sure to discover something delicious at these favorites of Natasha, the Director of Downtown Development.  Between the Bricks hours are Monday-Friday 11 AM-8 PM, Saturday 11 AM-4 PM.

Coffee lovers to downtown will want to scope out 60 Beans Coffee, a New York-inspired
coffee shop offering freshly brewed coffee, espresso, lattes, made-to-order crepes, and other decadent treats. Director of Investor Services, Lauren discovered 60 Beans while in college and has been a big fan ever since! Their outdoor space is a favorite gathering spot for many. 60 Beans is located at 275 E. Morris Blvd. at the Sherwood Commons complex and is open Monday-Saturday 7 AM-10 PM, Sunday 7 AM-8 PM.

If you’re looking for fresh food served by friendly folks, look no further than Redbud Deli at 345 E. Economy Rd. in the Morristown Plaza shopping area. Chef Lisa is a true food visionary creating dishes such as the seasonal Nutty Goat salad, Veg Head bowl, Hillbilly Heap panini, and the Carolina Pork Pile. The Smoky Turkey panini is just one of Director of Tourism Anne’s favorites while Customer Service Specialist, Caroline is a fan of the chicken avocado sandwich. Their soup offerings are just as tasty and the many salads, wraps, both hot and cold sandwiches, homemade potato chips, and decadent desserts keep the locals coming back again and again. Redbud is open from 10:30 AM – 8:00 PM Monday-Saturday.
